Hi, my name is Kristen also known as Besa. My husband nicknamed me Besa a few years ago while we were dating and it just stuck! Even though no one calls me Besa except him, everyone knows my nickname.
I love watching lifestyle/ beauty channels on Youtube, pinning many things on my Pinterest, bargain hunting for clothes and home decor, coloring in my adult coloring book, being inspired to do my makeup and painting my nails. I am a social person but also enjoy my own personal time. I love Latin music. I remember growing up listening to the classics on Sundays and watching my mom and step-dad dancing in our living room. This left a lasting impression on me. Since then, I always loved going to the club and dancing the stress away!
My mom was the first in my family to make the career change into education and soon after both my aunts did too. My family never forced me to become a teacher, they actually warned me about it. Growing up, I loved the end of the school year since the teachers gave away their stuff that they no longer needed. Of course I would get all the cool teacher supplies to play school at home. I would setup my baby dolls and stuffed animals around my bedroom, use my old textbooks to teach and grade old worksheets with a red pen. Sometimes my sister would join in but at that time she was too young to enjoy playing school. Honestly, I wanted to become a teacher because I loved kids!
In college, as an education major we had to double major as a requirement. I loved being creative so I picked Art. When I was in eighth grade, I was inducted to a program called Peak Art. Only a few students were chosen in the program and that started my second passion. I have so many fond memories in college going to the studio late at night, blasting music on the old boombox and painting with my best friend. Being creative as always been a stress relief for me.
Currently, I am an early childhood education teacher. I have taught 2 years in Pre-K, 4 years in fourth grade and now starting in September, I will be teaching first grade.
As time passed, I met the love of my life on an Atlantic City party bus and got enaged two years later and created the wedding of my dreams. I felt so inspired from my hands on experiences from the wedding, deep down something was missing creatively in my life now. I wanted to start the next chapter in my life. A Youtuber that I watch, Marissa Lace, started a series called Year of You. I was completely inspired by this series and wanted to implement this concept in my life. Originally, I wanted to start a Youtube channel but I feel like this blog is the best fit for now. And then Besa's Corner was born.
I want this blog to be a fun place where you feel as though your just hanging out with your friend and chatting about all the things we love!
