Our 1st Wedding Anniversary

My husband and I celebrated our one year anniversary this past weekend by going back to our wedding venue. We got married at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, NY and I highly recommend having your wedding there. The staff was amazing! They were very accommodating and extremely helpful. Honestly, they treated us like we were the King and Queen for the day.

The Grandview has a restaurant attached next to it called Shadows On The Hudson. Once we arrived, we walked along the breathtaking marina and all the memories from our wedding day came flooding back in my mind. I truly had the best wedding day and it was great to relive certain moments/ memories a year later.

Then, my husband and I went to have our romantic dinner at Shadows On The Hudson. Since the weather wasn't too hot for August, we decided to eat outdoors. I noticed that they remodeled the restaurant from the last time we were there. It looked very upscale and had a better seating arrangement.

For appetizers, we ate scallops with bacon and paired it with white wine. As we began eating they played our wedding song, All Of Me ( Myself and my bridesmaids walked down the aisle to this song). That's when I started to get very emotional and my heart started pounding. Listening to our song was so unexpected and it felt like we were the only two people eating dinner at that moment. Definitely a moment to remember!

I ordered the steamed lobster with garlic mash potatoes and asparagus for dinner. My husband ordered the stuffed lobster with roasted potatoes. The food was delicious and very filling. For dessert, we ordered a tiramisu and the restaurant surprised us with a mini dessert platter.

We ended the night with watching the memorizing sunset by the marina and dancing to our first dance song, You & I by John Legend.
